Never Far Apart....

Last year my Uncle Piet came from Holland to surprise my Mom on her 90th birthday.
He has come again....to celebrate her 91st!!!!

He arrived on the same day that they had said GOODBY 65 years ago.
 My Mom immigrated to America,
and they both thought they would never see each other again.

We have much to celebrate....MUCH to be thankful for.

My Uncle got to experience his FIRST HALLOWEEN.
He loved it!!!!

This weekend we continued our family celebration
by attending a wonderful luncheon and concert at Balboa Park.

The day was beyond beautiful...the Park prettier than ever.

My Uncle Piet LOVES a Hamburger and French Fries.
The Prado was the PERFECT destination.

My dear cousin Paul,  and his adorable wife Leesie,  made this day happen for all of us.
We laughed and caught up on each others lives...it was so much fun.

Looking at Paul I see the sweet face of his Dad....we all miss him so much.
He would have LOVED this family gathering as much as we all did.

We found our seats for the incredible Organ Concert.
My Uncle Piet is an organist in Holland...so he listens intently with much joy.

By the happy smile on my Mom's face, you can see she loved it too!!!!

Sixty five years ago these two siblings were separated by the devastation of war,
but  each had hope for a better tomorrow.

What a gift to see them together...survivors in every sense of the word.
What a gift it was for us to share in their happy reunion.
