There Was A Time.....

Our Christmas Tree will never reach a "Hallmark" perfection....

Our ornaments consist of little childrens handprints...

...and neatly written letters to Santa.

Favorite characters remind us of a time which seems so long ago...

When we celebrated the births of our own babies...

When my husband spent hours making minature houses for our first tree....

...and I also spent hours stitching important moments to be cherished forever.

The children would argue each year about
whose turn it was to put the angel on top of the tree
...but now there are no arguments.

We miss that part of Christmas
...children whose excitement each day
would fill the house with noise and more noise (G) !!!!

But we still reflect on the most important part of Christmas
...that we are all family.

Family will always be the most wonderful gift at Christmas....

...and speaking of GIFTS, we got a very special one this past week.

Our bitty Clare is going to be a BIG SISTER, and we couldn't be happier!!!

What fun it is to know that our own children
are now experiencing the joys that we so fondly remember.

It just makes Christmas that much more special
....and we are enjoying each moment of it.

Who cares about Hallmark perfection when you have love and memories and family!! I love that you kept the letters to Santa. Congrats on your new little one.

What a fantastic early Christmas present (or really belated Christmas present depending on how you look at it)! Congratulations on grandbaby number three, can't wait to see what beautiful projects are in store for this new addition to your family : )

Your tree is beautiful! I love it. Congrats to your family. I tried to leave a message on your DIL blog, but don't think I was successful!

Perfection is definitely overrated since there's no such thing...just enjoy life as we see it!

Congrats on the upcoming grandchild!! Whoohoo...soon one of those grandchildren will be fighting grandpa who gets to put the top on the tree!!

This tree is so much better than the 'perfect' Hallmark tree! Those memories are priceless and fill your hearts with joy I am sure.
Congrats with the big news of a new grandchild to be expected!

Oh, but your tree is a Hallmark tree. All the memories to be seen in one place at a very special time of year. I'm in the same boat as you where my kids are grown and have babies of their own. I miss the excitement. This year I will have all my babies and their babies here for the first time in three years. With two of them in the Marines, it is hard to get everyone "stateside" at the same time.

Blessings to you and congratulations on the new grand baby! Very exciting!

To me your tree looks like a Hallmark one. And you are so right it's family that matters. This was our first year of no fighting for putting the star on, but it's okay. We had grand kids to set up the Nativity set. Exciting news about the baby! Congrats!!

What an exciting happy surprise! Grandchildren are you such joys! Your tree is beautiful. I am going to have to put up a small one, ' cuz I am not sure what our kitty will do with a regular size one- climbing, I would think :)

Love your tree. If I had room, I would have a tree with all the handmade ornaments from my kids growing up years too. Your Christmas is going to be the best kind. A loving family and good times together honoring the birth of Jesus is what it is all about. You have an extra blessing this year with the news of a new little one. Clare is adorable and will be a good big sister.
Blessings to you and your sweet family during this Christmas season.
