Leaving Mackinaw Island meant leaving the "planned" part of our journey. From here on out we were programming our GPS to roads less traveled and allowing ourselves to be surprised by what we would find.
We found a lovely state park in Michigan that featured some of the most gorgeous waterfalls and scenery. We hiked, we photographed and we loved the feel of the spray of the waterfalls as we got closer to the natural beauty of the area.
We rested and ate a bite of lunch at this gorgeous point that observed a memorial to the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
We drove many back roads to enjoy the beauty of Fall and the scenic barns in Michigan and later into Wisconsin.
We met some very pretty sheep, and later we......
....stopped inside the barn which was now an art gallery and bought some of their wool for a sweater I hope to make.
I saw lots of barns that featured quilt designs like this.....
and this....
.....and suddenly I had great desire to visit some quilt shops!!! But that is tomorrow's story, and I will share more about that then.
